Chimney Sweep

Chimney sweep with a view
Chimney sweep with a view
After the slow combustion fireplace has been operating for several seasons it requires a flue clean and inspection. The condition of the following areas is important for the performance of the wood burning stove: Chimney top(cowl), roof flashing, doorseal, baffle plate and secondary air.
Creosote Blocked flue with cresote Creosote build up on the inside of the flue is created from running the heater on low, burning green wood ,wet wood ,not getting the heater up to operating temperature before turning the appliance air control down.A good thumb rule is if you can try to burn the black soot on the glass off before turning down.
Rotating Cowl Creosote blocked flue cowl with rotating bird Build up of creosote can create a complete blockage of a flue & cowl
Possum nest 0057.JPG Sometimes there are other reasons why the chimney is blocked & smokes a lot in the house.
